Ramón Larramendi and Brattahlid : Pioneers of Adventure in Iceland Ramón Larramendi, founder of Tierras Polares, began his polar journey in 1985 with the Transislandia85 expedition. When in Spain almost no one dreamed of traveling to the Poles, Ramón embarked on his first adventure on the eternal ice, completing a 450 km ski and pulk crossing through the three most important glaciers in Iceland, which made him, at just 19 years
old, the first person in the world to complete it. To this day, it remains the most significant Spanish expedition carried out in Iceland. This was the beginning of a frenetic period of expeditions throughout the Arctic that would lead him, between the ages of 20 and 23, to become the first
Spaniard to cross Greenland from east to west on skis, and to kayak along the 2,500 km of Norwegian coastline.
Ramón arrived in Iceland on a cargo ship nearly 30 years ago, when only a few hundred Spaniards dared to visit the island, and even then he was interested in creating routes in a place with almost no tourism. Today, our trips in Iceland are the result of all these years of experience and thousands of travelers who have traveled with us and shared our passion for adventure.

We want to promote real change, which is why we finance and organize the Wind Sled Project, aimed at developing the first clean vehicle for polar scientific research, and SOS Thule, a development plan for the legendary Thule region to prevent the loss of its millenary culture.
